WP Themes and CSS

When I first decided to start up this blog I couldn’t find a theme that had all the aspects out of the box that I was looking for.  Eventually I came to my senses and realized that this just may be the time to explore in greater detail what a Word Press (WP) theme consists of.  Prior to this indulgence I had little to no experience with cascade style sheets and their “manipulation” of images, text, and layouts.

It is true what they say, there is no better way to learn then to experiment and try things on your own whenever it is feasible.  Yes, there are situations when this would not be a wise thing to do.  I can not think of a better time than when working on your own projects, and that is just what I did, as it allows you more freedom to do as you please.  I try not to worry about “breaking” anything as it is by pushing the limits that we can discover our true potential.  Personally I do not think I have discovered my true potential yet, and I am hoping that coming up with my own projects while maintaining this website will allow me to tap in to some of that potential.  It is through breaking and then fixing things that we learn the ins and outs of things from software to hardware.  That said, do not forget the importance of back-ups as they may just save you hours of work and though it sounds intuitive, I have listened to many people tell me how they wish they had made those backups.  If I am going into really unknown territory, like modifying a WP theme at the time, then I update my backup after every major change once I have tested and am confident it works.

Please feel free to use my modified theme, green-dream 1.0, that you can download by clicking on the name.  Their is a ReadMe.txt file in the zip to provide more information.  If you find any bugs or have suggestions please let me know through my suggestion box.

You can leave a response, or trackback from your own site.
